2008 Box Hill Club Championship

A nine round Swiss tournament open to all BHCC members with a 2008/2009 membership, played on Friday nights at the Box Hill Chess Club, 3 Rochester Road, Canterbury.

Due to the absence of Trevor Stanning and Gerry Hartland up to the third round of the tournament, newly elected life member David Flude will act as tournament organiser and receiver of entry fees.

Tournament:

A 9 round Swiss, accelerated at the discretion of the arbiter.

Starting time: 7.45 pm sharp on all playing nights.
Ratings: ACF Rated
Entry fees: Early bird $25 (must be paid by Friday, April 18th), after that, Full fee $35
Free entry for Grand Masters and International Masters who are BHCC members.
Prize fund:
Total Prize fund $1000
1st: $400
2nd: $250
3rd: $150
4 rating prizes: $50 each
Prizes will be shared equally between players on equal scores.
Rate of play: 75 minutes/player + 30 seconds/move from move one.
Entries: Early bird entries with payment close at 10 PM Friday April 18th
All later entries with payment close 7.30 Friday April 25th

Laws of chess: All F.I.D.E. laws of chess, tournament rules, and Swiss draw rules apply.
Game recording: Players are required to record their games and hand in a copy of the completed game duly signed with the result entered, at the end of play.
Duplicate score sheets are supplied.
Late arrivals: The arbiter will do his best to avoid forfeit wins due to the unannounced absence of players.
Competitors not present at the venue half an hour after the advertised starting time, run the risk of being taken out of the draw for that round and the game redrawn wherever possible.
Postponements: Postponements should be avoided as much as possible. If unavoidable BHCC guidelines for postponements should be followed.
Forfeits: Players who forfeit twice or have been taken out of the draw twice may be withdrawn from the tournament.
Player conduct: Players are requested to familiarise themselves with the BHCC code of conduct and abide by that advise whenever possible.
